Can someone explain to me why we still don't have blocking?

So I get RIOT is aggressive with banning but honestly, they're not aggressive enough to clear out every sexist pig that starts yelling in their mic whenever they spot a girl or someone who actively tries to kill me just for daring to exist.

My voice isn't even that gentle, I'm 24 year old woman, so the fact that it's still a gamble that opening my mic might be the reason I have to deal with a game full of trolls just isn't acceptable.

And that's not even addressing the usual salt if someone isn't doing well or still learning and other more normalized behavior that doesn't stem from racism, homophobia and so on.

Yes, blocking can be exploited but honestly I think that's a small price to pay to provide some safety to an already vulnerable population of people.

So all in all, please, please bring a block or avoid button or SOMETHING that will allow me to be rid of people who think it's okay to scream "give me p*ss", "make me a sandwich", "women don't deserve to vote" and "I hope you get r*ped".

Because if that kind of behavior and speech doesn't belong in adult conversation, it sure as hell doesn't belong in a game played by 12 year olds.

Edit:Just addressing a few things.

  1. Just play with a premade. Having a premade is nice, but not everyone gets along with everyone and not everyone has friends who play games, or plays Valorant. Now while I'm lucky enough to usually have those, not everyone is.
  2. Exploits of a block. I acknowledged that yes people can exploit banning feature, however let's not forget, it's not like people can't cheat if they really want to already. And if you're focusing on possible exploits more than the fact that there are many, many groups of people being picked on, then you're sadly missing the point I'm trying to make. And there are lots of things you can do to mitigate possible exploitation. Also, let's not forget that according to research there's a correlation between how bad players are more likely to be sexist, so honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a similar correlation with other bigotry too.
  3. Don't you know you can just mute them? Just muting a person is not as big of a solution as some people seem to think. You lose a line of communication, which yes, is beneficial when it's not toxic in my experiences, and there is a significant mental toll you need to take on that makes it harder to focus and enjoy the game. ALSO, let's not forget that griefing isn't just in voice, even if it starts there. There are still Sage players walling you off, Razes using abilities to hurt you and so on.
  4. Sexism isn't the only issue. I used it as an example of toxic behavior that goes beyond just normal salt, because it's the one I'm most familiar with, but this problem is just as problematic for POC, LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized groups.
  5. "It'll break the comp!" Well guess what sunshine, the community is breaking it already if there is a percentage of player base who's being forced in an unfair disadvantage that they have no control over just because people care more about bullies than the victims.
